A fantasy writer hosts a writing workshop at the Hope Library

An author who grew up in Hope and went to Hope High School returns to lead a writing workshop.

Lorna Carleton currently lives in Vernon and is the author of several fantasy novels.

She will be in town on August 9 to lead a workshop at the Hope Library. The workshop is open to all ages and takes place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

In addition to being an author, Carleton works as a security consultant for a large utility company and is working toward a college degree.

“Although I dreamed of being an author since childhood, and made several attempts at writing novels, The Dragons of Nibiru is my first published story,” her bio says. She has since added to the series.

“My inspiration for the stories came from observations of life over the years; chief among them were the clashes between various cultures and the struggles of former cult members to continue their lives and find happiness.
