Disney+ plans to debut the new live-action “Pinocchio” on September 8, and the streamer has released a new trailer, photos, and poster for the film.
About the movie
Directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Robert Zemeckis, this live-action/CGI remake stars Disney legend Tom Hanks as Geppetto, the lonely Italian woodcarver whose only wish is to have a son.
Benjamin Evan Ainsworth voices Pinocchio, the puppet who wants to be a real boy, and he’s joined by Joseph Gordon-Levitt who plays Jiminy Cricket.
Cynthia Erivo stars as the Blue Fairy, Keegan-Michael Key stars as “Honest” John, Lorraine Bracco plays new character Sofia the Seagull, and Luke Evans is the Coachman.
Also in the cast are Kyanne Lamaya as Fabiana and Jaquita Ta’Le as her puppet Sabina, Giuseppe Battiston as Stromboli and Lewin Lloyd as Lampwick.
The film is based on the classic children’s novel “The Adventures of Pinocchio” written by Italian author Carlo Collodi, which in turn inspired the 1940 Disney animated classic, “Pinocchio.”
Songs from the original animated classic, including “When You Wish Upon a Star” performed by Erivo, will be in this new live-action film, but the soundtrack will also include new original songs composed by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard ( “The Polar Express”).
This look at the film includes a better introduction to all the characters, as well as a clearer look at how the CGI animation blends with the actors and live set.
“Pinocchio” will debut on Disney+ Day, September 8, 2022. It will be included with regular subscriptions.
It’s one of many movies, series and more that will debut on the same day.
