Actions of Microsoft outperformed the S&P 500 over the past year (+ 49.3% vs. + 28.3%). The Zacks analyst believes that Microsoft has benefited from the strength of its Azure cloud platform as well as the acceleration of the global digital transformation.

The growth in the number of team users has gradually benefited from the pursuit of remote working and the increased adoption of the hybrid working model. Strong adoption of the new Xbox consoles has helped the performance of the gaming segment. Microsoft, however, expects Surface revenue to decline in the fiscal second quarter due to supply chain disruptions. The costs associated with Azure improvements and fierce competition in the cloud space are also likely to squeeze margins.

Broadcom stocks have gained + 51.9% during the year-to-date period against Zacks Electronics – Semiconductors industry’s gain of + 43.8%. The Zacks analyst believes Broadcom has enjoyed continued strength in the semiconductor solutions and infrastructure software industries.

In the fourth quarter of fiscal 2021, Semiconductor revenues benefited from higher demand for wireless solutions and continued momentum in networking and broadband solutions. Synergies from CA acquisitions and Symantec’s corporate security activities aided results. Optimistic first-quarter forecasts for strong growth in broadband, networking and wireless revenues are encouraging. Growing competition and high levels of indebtedness, however, remain a concern.

Actions of Eli lilly have gained + 22.8% in the last six months against the gain of pharmaceutical industry Zacks Large Cap of + 12.4%. Zacks analyst believes Lilly’s revenue growth is due to higher demand for drugs like Trulicity, Taltz, etc.

Lilly recently submitted regulatory applications for tirzepatide for type II diabetes and donanemab for early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. Both candidates have multi-billion dollar sales potential. It also regularly adds promising new pipeline assets through business development agreements. However, generic competition for several drugs and increasing pressure on prices in the United States (mainly on the key drug Trulicity) remain major obstacles.
