Inspired by God to start writing

POLOKWANE – Flora Park resident Matjatji Harpestad says she was led by God to write her book titled The Faithful God.

The author resigned from her position as Public Relations Manager and Promotions Coordinator at Meropa Casino and Entertainment World in 2020 to focus on her writing. She told the Polokwane Observer that God guided her through a period of fasting and prayer.

“I don’t think I was ready then, but he started to prepare me. I spent months with God seeking his direction. I was tired of doing things my way and wanted his direction,” she says.

Matjatji explains in September 2021 that she had trouble sleeping and says the Holy Spirit told her to write her book. “I felt in my mind that it was time. The title and cover colors and images were all revealed to me and I started writing the next day,” she says.

Matjatji adds that the book begins with his personal experiences of God’s faithfulness.

“My main challenge while writing was time management. I had to learn how to fit writing a book into my daily activities because I am a mother, a housewife and an entrepreneur. I had to get up early and working on the book and when I had free time during the day, I continued,” she says.

Matjatji is also the founder of Opulence Hairstyles where she makes custom and affordable wigs that suit any occasion.

“I never thought I could write a book, but God can do great things for us that we never expected. He has placed gifts within us and when we seek Him He will bring them out so that we can function for our purpose. You should never be afraid to start something new, especially if you have a conviction in your mind,” Matjatji concludes.
