Jordan Peele is on the run right now, and with Nope surpassing $100 million, he’s considering his next options.
Jordan Peele’s streak of success continued this summer with Nope, the film having crossed the $100 million mark at the box office. While many films have passed this milestone, it’s worth noting that this makes Peele one of the few directors to have all of his first three feature films cross the $100 million mark, which for a director of Horror creating original movies that have no links to existing IP addresses is quite an achievement. Looks like he has ideas for the next step.
Peele recently discussed Nope and his career so far with Empire, and during the chat he brought up any other ideas and if he thought any of them might be related to some of his old tweets, which Nope has become known for. He said:
“I doubt it. I don’t know what’s next, there’s a few ideas filtering through. I need to sink into the world a little bit and allow the world to kind of tell me which one is next. So that’s what my next two months will be spent doing… Sit, watch, wait, watch my coffee. If you watch good movies, you’ll be inspired, even if it has nothing see with what you want to do. work for me. Sometimes inspiration comes instantly, and sometimes it comes in time. I need to watch and listen, I can’t just express myself all the time You have to listen.
Jordan Peele cemented his place in Hollywood
Having already been compared to John Carpenter by some — a comparison that Peele himself shut down after revealing he doesn’t believe he’s deserved that kind of accolade just yet — Jordan Peele currently can’t be wrong. Although his recent movies haven’t been as highly rated as his debut, get outthey all received solid fresh ratings and did well at the box office.
Peele has previously commented that he has four “social thrillers” he wants to do over the next decade. Based on this, Nope would be the second of four, which means the writer-director has two more to offer. He said:
“The best and scariest monsters in the world are human beings and what we are capable of, especially when we come together. I worked on these premises about these different social demons, these naturally human monsters that are woven into the fabric of how we think and how we interact, and each of my films is going to be about another one of these social demons.”
Peele signed a five-year deal with Universal in 2019 to produce and direct a number of films. So far this has included Nopelast years Candyman, the next Honk for Jesus. save your soul and a remake of people under the stairs, which it will produce. With that and his upcoming directorial features to consider, Peele is certainly in a good place right now and that can only mean good things for his fans.
