Oyakhilome’s book is the most translated publication in 7,000 languages

The Rhapsody of Realities, a publication of LoveWorld Publishing Ltd, a daily devotional written by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome of The Christ Embassy has become the most translated book in the world, publishing house chief operating officer Pastor (Ms.) Lola Aida said.

Aisida made this known at a press conference held in Lagos on Friday, saying that the book, otherwise known as Pastor Oyakhilome’s Daily Devotional, has been translated into 7,000 languages worldwide, of which 520 are Nigerian languages.

She said that 22 years later, LoveWorld Publishing had grown into a vast network of publishers spread across multiple countries, adding that translation work was deployed by a massive army of translators who applied due diligence processes to deliver Rhapsody of Realities. to all 7,000 languages.

“From all points of view, the work of translation is not easy. If that were the case, the popular literary pieces of the world would long ago have been available in all languages.

“On the contrary, authenticated records show that the most translated documentary short film is in eleven translations; the most translated short film has 22 translations; the most translated document, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, produced by the United Nations in 1948, was translated into only 370 languages in 2019.

“And even the most professionally translated acclaimed author in the world, Agatha Christie, has her books in just over 100 languages,” said Pastor Aisida.

Speaking further about translation and language challenges, Aisida, said there are 7,139 languages spoken in the world today, but quickly noted that a report indicated that 42% of those languages were in danger.

According to her, these statistics pose a global challenge specific to a global publishing house that transcends the inadequacies of the editorial space.

She, however, said that LoveWorld Publishing has proven that translating a book into all the known languages of the world is a job that can be done, notwithstanding that translation is still a tedious job.

“There are 7,139 languages spoken today, but a report indicates that 42% of these languages are endangered. These statistics have posed a global challenge worthy of a global publishing house that transcends shortcomings in editorial space,” she said.

Abuja Area Christ Embassy Pastor Dipo Esho who also spoke about the feat achieved by the publishing house praised Pastor Oyakhilome “for bringing men into the reality of the original purpose for which they were created”, through the book.

He said the ministry will ensure that the book continues to reach all communities in the nations of the world.
