Participate in the City’s writing workshop


Aspiring writers are invited to apply to participate in a two-day writing workshop as part of the Articulate Africa program.

The writing workshop, which aims to improve the writing skills of beginning authors, will be held on Wednesday 30 and Thursday 31 March.

Two workshops will be held in English and isiZulu, each accommodating a maximum of 20 successful applicants.

To be considered, the applicant must be a first-time writer and be 16 years of age or older. Applicants must submit a one-page cover letter explaining why they wish to attend the workshop and submit a fictional short story of 2,500-3,500 words.

Applications close on March 11 at 2:00 p.m.

Articulate Africa is the Parks, Recreation and Culture Unit’s flagship literary and arts fair. It is one of the key projects of Durban’s UNESCO City of Literature designation which aims to showcase the city’s talent in various creative fields.
