Disney+’s upcoming “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” series has added three new actors to its cast to play the gods and demigods of the books.
While the first season is already in production, these actors have just been added to the cast:
Copeland will appear in a recurring guest star role as Ares, the god of war.
Ares is described as “handsome in a mean and arrogant way, though he’s not always the sharpest tool in the shed. He enjoys conflict and acts as an agent of chaos wherever he goes.
The actor, also known as WWE Hall of Fame wrestler Edge, has starred on TV shows “Haven,” “The Flash,” and “Vikings.”
Author Rick Riordan said of the casting, “I knew Adam was our Ares as soon as I saw his audition tape. He absolutely nailed it. . . This guy IS Ares as I imagined him in the Percy Jackson series.
Cryer will play the role of Echidna, the mother of monsters.
The character is said to be “dangerous, intimidating and strangely motherly. She enjoys her task of challenging the heroes and will test Percy’s faith in the gods.
The actress is currently working on the “Straight Man” series with Bob Odenkirk, and her past resume includes “Silicon Valley,” “The Fosters,” and “Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place.”
Riordan says of her casting, “Suzanne is not just a lovely person (with three kids who are all Percy fans), but an incredible actor who brought menace and magic to her portrayal of Echidna, mother of monsters. .”
Kennedy will play the role of Medusa, the infamous gorgon.
According to her official character description, Medusa is “god-wronged and bitter. Medusa lives in seclusion until travelers stumble upon her emporium. It is welcoming to some and a threat to others.
Kennedy starred as Nora in “The Flash” and the Starz pirate epic, “Black Sails.” His CV also includes the series “The Old Man” and “Colony”, as well as the films “Gemini” and “50/50”.
Of her casting, Riordan says, “Her balanced, powerful, and elegant version of Medusa blew my mind! And wait until you see some of the statuary in his Garden Gnome Emporium…”
