For the past few years, a reconciliation between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and the rest of the royal family seemed unlikely. After their Megxit bomb from the UK, followed by the former Combinations star’s revealing interview with Oprah Winfrey and recent Limitless New York magazine cover story, coupled with their multi-million dollar deals with Spotify and Netflix and Harry’s upcoming tale, the couple seemed undeterred in their mission to tell their side of the story. However, the death of Harry’s beloved grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, unexpectedly brought Harry and Meghan back into the family’s orbit. Now, some experts believe that the Prince has doubts about the publication of his memoirs and that they will never see the light of day.
Royal biographer and author of The Diana Chronicles and the Palace Papers, Tina Brown, thinks there’s a good chance Prince Harry’s next memoir will never make it to libraries. The book, which was due to be published before the holiday season, would prevent him from being welcomed back into the family, she said.
“They’re now in this bind, where they took all this money and Harry made this book deal where he’s supposed to come clean about his horrible life as a royal, but now he’s actually tortured about it because he understands that there is no if he does,” says Brown.
Brown, the former editor of Tatler and vanity lounge, explains that Harry has recently become more concerned about the ramifications of the book. “If the book continues, I don’t think it’s possible for Harry to come back. So I always thought the book wouldn’t see the light of day,” she continues.
Obviously, the money Harry was accepting for the book would be his biggest concern to put it aside for good. However, she points out that her father could help keep him out of public absorption. “The window is starting to close but I always thought that at some point a deal would be made and Charles would have to repay the advance to stop Harry from writing this book,” she says.
She also adds that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are poor by Hollywood standards, which is why Meghan is trying to upgrade their home in Montecito. “In Montecito, where they live, their $14 million mansion is a modest cottage compared to what these other people own,” she points out. “Yes, and at some point she may be looking for more than a new home. Elon Musk is still single, that’s all I have to say.”
