Quentin Tarantino writes a book with a strange story in the universe … about himself

Quentin Tarantino returns to the world of his 2019 film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood yet again, this time with a book dedicated to Leonardo DiCaprio actor Rick Dalton. However, there is a twist; Tarantino says the book is written by an alternate historical version of himself.

In an interview with Empire, the director described the bizarre project saying that it is called The Movies of Rick Dalton and that it contains the complete filmography of Dalton’s fictional work. Tarantino says he was inspired by books from the 1970s where people could learn about their favorite actors.

“You know in the 70’s you could get these books like The Films Of Charles Bronson, The Films Of Anthony Quinn? Well, that’s it, ”Tarantino said. “This gives you a quick little biography of his life. And then it starts to cross the career. “

The concept sounds simple enough, but this is the backstory for the author of the book where things start to get confusing. While “Quentin Tarantino” will appear on the cover, he’s not the same Tarantino who directed Once Upon A Time In Hollywood in Our Universe – he’s Quentin Tarantino in the alternate universe of Once Upon A Time In Hollywood .

In the interview, Tarantino painted a picture of Tarantino in the universe meeting Dalton in Hawaii in 1998 at a film festival, long after Dalton retired from acting.

“He’s staying at the hotel I’m staying at, and there’s Rick! He’s about 40 pounds heavier, but he’s there,” Tarantino said. “So we’re having a blast, and he’s a really nice guy, and my movie is showing and he’s coming to the screening.”

After having a great time together in Hawaii, the other Tarantino apparently decides to create an event celebrating Rick Dalton’s career, followed by a book called The Man Who Would Be McQueen: The Rick Dalton Movies. That’s a lot of traditions to chew on for Tarantino fans.

It’s unclear when he’ll come out, as Tarantino said, “I probably need to push him a bit, but the body is completely there.”

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is Tarantino’s ninth feature film, and it follows the characters of DiCaprio and Pitt as they struggle to navigate Hollywood in 1969. When the originally released movie, we said “the respective performances of DiCaprio and Pitt and the film’s meticulous attention to period detail are all excellent.”

This is the second book Tarantino has written on the Once Upon A Time In Hollywood universe, releasing a novel last year that delves into the story of Pitt’s character, stuntman Cliff Booth. At the time, Tarantino called the novel “a complete rethink of the whole story,” rather than just a novelization. The novel ended up revealing new details about Booth, specifically the truth about his wife’s death.

Tarantino, who is best known for directing Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill, is considering retiring after his tenth feature, which means his next one could be his last. That being said, Tarantino has several ideas on the table for future films, including Kill Bill 3 and a comedic spaghetti western.
