For a second year, Eckert’s Farms in Bellville, Ill., Is rolling out a Santa-sized globe for its annual meetup events. Enclosing the Merry Christmas icon in plastic allows children to safely interact with it, sharing nothing more contagious than the joy of the holidays.

Each year, the location of the farm in Bellville (951, chemin South Green Mount, Belleville, 618-233-0513) hosts a series of events involving Santa Claus. Amanda Moran, Marketing Director at Ecker’s, says the Globe is a compromise found in the last first vacation season amid COVID.

“We were hoping to get out of it this year,” Morgan said, adding, “but it wasn’t.”

Last year Morgan said the new protections didn’t seem to dampen the usual excitement for Breakfast With Santa events, which include story time, cookie decorating and (of course) a breakfast with the Santa Claus followed by his Christmas greetings. The breakfast events have been adapted to maintain social distances, but the bubble allows children to spend time talking to Santa before photo time.

For reservations and ticket information for the Santa photo ops and breakfast with Santa, visit the event pages on the Eckert website at Breakfast with Santa Claus takes place over two days, December 18-19. Photos with Santa Claus are available weekdays until December 23.
