Former Zeus (HoZ) manager and Canongate staffer Holly Domney has launched a new preprint venture, with HoZ and Joffe Books already on board.
Domney Books prepares authors and their manuscripts for publication. In addition to the publishing house customers secured to date, the company is supporting 10 authors directly at the launch. These include Sunday time best-selling crime writer David Mark ad first self-publisher of romance novels Jamie Taylor. Eight other British and American authors of action, adventure, thriller, science fiction and fantasy also work with Domney in their quest for publication.
In addition to offering editorial services such as structural editing and copywriting, Domney Books describes itself as “a cheerleader, adviser and promoter of authors” providing consultancy, coaching, nurturing and creation. He says these services help writers complete their manuscript, prepare them for submission to agents and publishing houses, or self-publish their novels.
Domney said, “Too often the human element of editing is overlooked. We don’t just deal with manuscripts. We are dealing with masses of creative, emotional and intellectual energy that authors have invested in their stories. In addition to helping to make manuscripts marketable, Domney Books will help authors overcome their fears – fears of rejection, of promotion, and even of publication itself.
“Working on manuscripts for publication is a real privilege, especially when they are already selected by excellent publishers such as Head of Zeus and Joffe.”
Laura Palmer, Fiction Publishing Director of Zeus, said: “It’s been such a pleasure to work with Holly at Domney Books. Professional and passionate, she not only defends her authors, but goes above and beyond for them and their books.
