Disney+ has ordered a 10-episode series for a new “Goosebumps” live-action series based on the books by author RL Stine.

The series will follow a group of five high school students who accidentally unleash supernatural forces on their town. They must all learn to work together, despite their differences, to defeat the monsters and save everyone.

No casting news has been made, but Nick Stoller and Rob Letterman will serve as writers and executive producers on the series, with Letterman directing the first episode.

First published in 1992, the Scholastic-published title is one of the best-selling book series of all time, with over 200 “Goosebumps” books in total, including spin-offs.

The books were initially made into an anthology TV series that ran from 1996 to 1998, then two movies starring Jack Black as a fictionalized version of RL Stine that were released in 2015 and 2018. Letterman said directed the first film.

Goosebumps - still from the film

“Goosebumps” will actually be the second RL Stine series to air on Disney+. The streamer previously ordered a series adaptation of Stine’s “Just Beyond” graphic novels, which premiered its first season in October 2021.

The new series was announced via social media with a teaser:
