Please join author and musician Gerald Elias for a special free reading and music event and light refreshments at C&P Coffee at 5612 California Ave. SW on Friday, March 4, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Elias will present his 7th and most recent Daniel Jacobus murder mystery, CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MURDER.
For those of you unfamiliar with the series, the stories are set in dark corners of the classical music world. Jacobus, a grumpy, reclusive, and blind violin teacher, has an uncanny knack for getting in and (ultimately) out of trouble.

CLOUDY takes place during a chamber music festival on an island in the middle of the Great Salt Lake. When a freak summer storm separates the lake from the mainland (à la Agatha Christie), Jacobus and his protege, violinist Yumi Shinagawa, are trapped on the island with a murderous maniac.

The presentation will not only include a lively discussion about the book. Elias, a former Boston Symphony Orchestra violinist, will also perform excerpts from Vivaldi’s “Spring” Violin Concerto from The Four Seasons that inspired his ideas for the story.

The evening will end with a lively Q&A and Elias will also be signing copies of CLOUDY and his other mysteries, all courtesy of our wonderful local independent paper boat booksellers in West Seattle.

“What gives this mystery its verve is Jacobus’ vibrant cast of characters, indomitable personality and ironic wit. Music lovers will not be the only ones to enjoy spending time in his scholarly company. Weekly editors
