On Friday, March 11 at 7 p.m., Paper Boat Booksellers is hosting a new book launch by West Seattle author Elise Hooper. ANGELS OF THE PACIFIC at the Westside Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 7141 California Ave SW. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

This novel is set in the Philippines and is inspired by the extraordinary true stories of WWII American Army and Navy nurses, known as the Angels of Bataan, and the unsung Philippine contributions of the resistance. . It’s a story that transports readers to a remarkable time of hope, bravery, perseverance and, ultimately, victory.

Elise will give a brief talk on behind-the-scenes research and the writing process, answer questions from the audience, and book signing. This is a free, child-friendly public event.

Book sales will be held on site that evening by Paper Boat Booksellers.

From Tuesday March 8, ANGELS OF THE PACIFIC (William Morrow, 2022) will be available for sale. Signed copies will be available from Paper Boat Booksellers and Pegasus Book Exchange.
